Water-based coatings are composed of resin, pigment, filler and additives. According to the use, water-based coatings are divided into: construction coatings, water-based industrial coatings, water-based anti-rust coatings, etc., but all kinds of coatings are inseparable from the use of pigments, especially iron oxide pigments have become indispensable to water-based coatings. Iron oxide pigments are widely used in coatings, paints and inks because they are non-toxic, non-bleeding, low cost, and can form a variety of different color characteristics.

The small series of pigments introduces us to the use of iron oxide pigments in water-based coating and guessing: iron oxide pigments widely used in water-based coating and guessing include iron oxide red, iron oxide yellow, iron oxide black and other products. Iron oxide red has good heat resistance, does not change color at 300 ℃, and has extremely stable chemical structure.
It can absorb the ultraviolet spectrum of sunlight, so it has a maintenance effect on the coating. Iron oxide red acid resistance, alkali resistance, water resistance, solvent resistance, and also has good weather resistance. It is used for anti-rust coating with physical anti-rust function, increase the compactness and mechanical strength of the coating, so that the moisture in the atmosphere can not penetrate into the metal layer.
Iron oxide pigment is used in water-based coating. Iron oxide yellow and iron oxide red have the same characteristics of light resistance, solvent resistance, alkali resistance, dilute acid resistance, etc. Its heat resistance function is slightly poor. When heat treated at 135 ℃/1h and 177 ℃/5min, it gradually loses crystal water and changes to red phase, so it cannot be used in coating with higher drying temperature.
